About Nate Cote
Nate was raised on a small family farm where he learned a number of skills and some of the finer points about agriculture. He has seven siblings and a large extended family.  

Nate served in the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged, Nate studied business administration and earned a bachelor's degree in management. 

Nate later earned master's degrees in human relations, public administration, and human resources management. Nate has doctoral degrees in management and educational leadership. 

Nate began his federal career in 1973. He retired in 2003 as the human resources director at Kirtland Air Force Base. He then took a second career in higher education. He was a professor and instructor, and he became the academic director for Park University and then for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Holloman AFB and White Sands Missile Range branches. He retired from this position in 2008. He currently teaches part-time.

Nate Cote served as the state representative for district 53 in the NM House from 2007-2011 where he was considered a very effective legislator. He quickly earned a reputation as a hard worker and as a caring and accessible representative. 

Nate enjoys hiking, running, restoring classic cars/trucks, gardening, learning, and community work.

Nate and Monique have been married for 31 years. Their daughter Michelle is a physician's assistant and lives in Phoenix, AZ.

          - Fully fund Medical Care for Honey Sue Newby and other Level Three Spina Bifida Children of Parents who Served in Vietnam and were 
            exposed to Agent Orange

  • protected civil rights
          - Prohibition of Profiling Practices Act

  • broadened health care delivery in rural areas
          - Expanded the scope of practice for both Physician Assistant and Nurse Practioners

  • strongly supported schools and teachers
          - Study School Staff Shortage Issues
          - Classroom Supply Tax Credit (didn't pass)
          - Appropriation for text books for Dona Ana Community College 
          - Educational Opportunity for Military Children 

  • addressed the seriousness of domestic violence as well as other acts of violence
          - Domestic Violence Victim Substitute Address
          - Domestic Violence Treatment Fund Uses

  • provided funding for streets, roads, flood control, community/senior centers, law enforcement, parks, and hiking/biking trails 
          - Complete Continental Divide Scenic Trail
          - Request for Capital Project Funding

  • promoted alternative fuels for transportation and the use of alternative energy
          - Incentivize NM Bio-Diesel Industry
